Ruby Barreau: The Founder Rewriting Beauty in Dubai
Meet Ruby Barreau, the French founder behind March14, the beauty brand born in Dubai where backstage standards, technology and community meet.

Ruby Barreau does not run a salon. She is building a beauty brand. From a two floor, 3,500 sq ft Residence in Dubai, Al Quoz 3, the French founder of March14 Beauty Residence has created one of the city's most talked about new generation beauty names, and she is doing it with the instincts of a fashion insider and the toolkit of a tech entrepreneur.
Walk into March14 on any given afternoon and several transformations unfold at once. A blonde comes to life in the Hair Studio. An XXL nail set takes shape in the Nails Theatre. Lashes, brows and a spray tan happen in rooms of their own. At the centre of it all, Ruby moves between ateliers, camera in hand, testing a new system, briefing a specialist, directing the content that will reach followers from Riyadh to Paris before the client has even left.
Her shorthand for the brand is simple: French heritage. Dubai energy. International ambition.

From backstage Paris to Dubai
Before March14 had an address, it had a reputation. Ruby grew up in Paris and spent years backstage, inside ateliers, private suites and fashion environments, working around some of the most recognised names in music, cinema and entertainment. Celebrity clients knew the March14 name before the Dubai flagship ever opened its doors, a story told in Before March14: How Ruby Barreau Built Her Name With Icons.
That world taught her a standard with zero room for approximation. A red carpet, a campaign shoot or a fashion week show leaves no space for a second attempt. Privacy, precision, speed and technical mastery are not extras there. They are the baseline.
Her signature craft still carries that thinking. To Ruby, a spray tan is never just colour. It is a mood, a fashion accessory, a glow chosen the way one chooses a jacket or a pair of earrings, and it must always look like skin, never like product. Read how she built it in Celebrity Spray Tan in Dubai: Ruby Barreau's Technique.
Today she also sits on the beauty and fashion board in Paris, a seat that keeps March14 close to the innovations shaping the industry long before they reach the mainstream.

A standard, not a service menu
The goal was never a salon that occasionally welcomes celebrities. It was a beauty environment built from the standards of that world and opened to every woman who walks in.
March14 brings together the Hair Studio, the Nails Theatre, the Lashes and Brows Atelier, the Spray Tanning Studio and Body and Details under one name. The Hair Studio is the official L'Oréal Professionnel and Kérastase salon, a direct line to the French expertise Ruby grew up with. The Nails Theatre offers 1,900 polish colours, healthy nail systems and some of the most complex nail art in Dubai.
The philosophy behind it is the March14 Chart of Excellence. Ruby's conviction is that no single beauty system is right for everybody. Hair, nails and skin differ, and so do lifestyles and sensitivities. So instead of building the brand around one method, March14 curates a portfolio of professional systems and chooses the right one for each client. Six pillars guide every decision: technique, performance, safety, innovation, personalisation and quality of result.
Safety is personal for Ruby. Having faced skin cancer herself, she builds March14 around a simple question: what will this choice mean for a client's health in ten years? That is why the Residence offers TPO free nail alternatives in its Healthy Nails Lab, carefully selected lash adhesives and treatments chosen for the long term, not just the photo.
Where beauty meets technology
What sets Ruby apart from almost every salon founder in the region is how naturally she moves between the chair and the screen.
Inside the Residence, technology serves the result: advanced hair bonding treatments, multiple nail systems, professional tanning technologies and AI powered lamps that bring precision to the nail and lash rooms. Protocols are reviewed constantly as new innovations arrive from Paris and beyond.
Behind the scenes, Ruby runs March14 like a modern media company. She uses artificial intelligence across the business: to plan and produce editorial content, to create campaign visuals and video, to follow the competitive landscape, to sharpen the brand's search presence and to keep a daily publishing rhythm that brands many times its size would envy. She even composed March14's own anthem with AI music tools, a hard, rap forward track about ambition, friendship and building a life of memories.
Her view is clear. March14 should behave like a beauty media brand with an extraordinary physical destination. Transformations, education, trends, salon life and the founder herself all have a place in the feed. It is a brand people follow long before they become clients. As she told Fast Company Middle East, two people can use exactly the same technology and still run completely different businesses, because they do not share the same experience, taste or understanding of the customer.

A community, not a client list
March14 grew out of a circle of girlfriends who shared an ambition and a love for beauty. That spirit never left. The Residence hosts constant events and community activations, from March14 Halloween Night to gatherings at the Residence, and its personalities, from the founder to specialists like Essa Makhoul, are part of the brand's voice.
In 2026 Ruby and her team launched The 14 Club, a reward programme designed to recognise the women who make March14 part of their lives. It reflects her belief that loyalty is earned through attention: learning each client's preferences, respecting that handmade work takes time and treating every visit as the start of a longer relationship.
Recognition, and the chapters still to come
The press has taken notice. Vogue Arabia has featured March14 and quoted Ruby, a story told in our Vogue Arabia feature. Cosmopolitan Middle East opened its autumn nail trend report with the Residence's Black and White Edit, and Fast Company Middle East turned to Ruby on founder credibility.
Yet Ruby speaks of Dubai as the first chapter, not the final destination. Her ambition is for March14 to become one of the most recognisable beauty brands ever to emerge from the city: a name, an aesthetic and a standard that can travel to Paris, London, Riyadh, Los Angeles and New York.
She is building it the way she has built everything so far. Precisely, quickly, and in plain sight. Discover more in The March14 Story.
